My thanks to Rhyl History Club (pay their site a visit) for this picture depicting the paddling pool in earlier days. It also includes the Coliseum Theatre that was later roofed. The Coliseum had a long tradition of seaside Minstrel shows of which the female impersonator, Billie Manders’ Troupe were probably the most famous. These were companies of actors who could put on a full variety show in the summer season.
